‘SABUGAL PRESÉPIO’ – THE GREATEST NATURAL NATIVITY SCENE…
Sabugal will be, once again, the stage for the largest natural Nativity scene, from December 7th to January 6th!
The city Town Hall is recreating the Bethlehem Nativity Scene, in the city centre (Largo da Fonte Velha), occupying a surface of approximately one thousand and a hundred square meters (11,840 ft), planned to provide an even stronger expression to the true spirit of Christmas – the birth of Jesus.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for December 7th (Friday), at 5 p.m., by means of a concert from the ‘Intermezzo Opera’, an ice-skating show and many other surprises. On this day the city will also glow with Christmas lighting…
There will also be room for the opening of the exhibition of craftworks executed by students from the county’s schools and the users of IPSS`s (private social welfare institutions) that embraced the project known as: ‘Fantastic Christmas, Plastic Recycle’.
In parallel, the doors of the Christmas Street Market will open, a showroom for the exhibition and sale of local products and handicrafts.
The program of events will also gift several activities in the Christmas stocking, both for Children and adults: an ecological ice rink, street entertainment – face painting, balloon modelling and magic – theatre plays, musical performances, concerts and Show cooking.
In addition to all this, there are also cultural and sporting activities like an exhibition of Nativity Scenes, in the Museum of Sabugal, and a Christmas mountain bike tour.
