‘NIGHTS IN THE CASTLE’ – SABUGAL

On the nights of July 19^th, 20^th and 21^st, Sabugal’s Castle hosted two concerts and a dance performance.

It was with the concert ‘Songs and Dances of the World’, part of the fourth edition of the Bendada Music Festival, that  the ‘Nights at the Castle’ of Sabugal began, which featured traditional songs and dances from various countries, in which students of the Musical Improvement Course and the Bendadense Philharmonic Society participated along with the Bendada Cavaquinhos Group.

On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Sabugal Sailors’ Meeting, the Armada Band, which has about 100 musicians, also performed at the Cinco Quinas Castle.

The ‘Nights in the Castle’ culminated in the dance show ‘The Hand, the Animal and the Mystery’, which took place at Largo de Alcanizes. This show is part of the project ‘Culture in the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Network’, which is a choreographic work with the participation of locals from five municipalities: Sabugal, Belmonte, Covilhã, Fundão and Guarda, bringing together a group of participant performers from different age groups, with different bodies, with and without experience in dance.
