SABUGAL HOSTS THE VI EUROPEAN CONGRESS ON RURAL TOURISM

Under the theme ‘Iberian destiny, rural tourism within and beyond borders’ and with the purpose of approaching points of view beyond the geographical boundaries between territories, the VI European Congress of Rural Tourism will take place at Cró Hotel Rural, in the county of Sabugal, on May 29 and 30.

The event aims to be the meeting and debating place of the sector, where both current and future problems and challenges will be addressed. For a day and a half, entrepreneurs linked to rural tourism, representatives of the civil service and institutions and also academics will meet in order to analyze the state of the industry and exchange opinions.

This European Congress of Rural Tourism, of itinerant nature, takes place for the first time outside the Spanish territory. It also presents as a novelty, the figure of the invited territory, which this year belongs to the Extremadura region, represented by its Directorate General of Tourism.

COETUR is an initiative of the Escapada Rural, and this edition is hosted both by the Historic Villages of Portugal and the Municipality of Sabugal as well as the institutional support of Turismo Centro de Portugal and Turismo de Portugal.

“The focus of the 6th edition of COETUR is fully aligned with the new way of working, based on public-private collaboration, which allows us to consolidate the idea of a single Iberian market for rural tourism in the international tourist scene”, emphasizes António Robalo, president of Municipality of the Sabugal and of the Historic Villages of Portugal.
