“WHAT TO DO WITH THE COUNTRY OF THE VILLAGES?”

Bendada stage for the national debate on territorial cohesion

On the next March 26th, at 3 p.m., will take place, in the Bandada Music House Auditorium, the conference “What to do with the Country of the Villages”

After the welcoming session presided by the Sabugal Mayor and the Vice-president of the Portugal Historical Villages, António Robalo, and by the Bendada Parish Council President, Jorge Dias, the Minitry of Agriculture, Luís  Capoulas dos Santos, will open this conference.

The speakers pannel will also feature Augusto Mateus, former Ministry of Agriculture of the 13th Contitutional Government, currently consultant and specialist in territory dynamics and regional development; Helena Freitas, recently appointed as coordinator for the Mission Unit for the Valorization of the Interior; Jorge Seguro Sanches, Secretary of State for Energy; Frederico Lucas, leader of the Novos Povoadores Organization, and Pedro Cegonho, ANAFRE President (National Parishes Association).

Moderating the debate will be Vítor Andrade, Economy coordinator for the Expresso newpaper.

António Robalo also has the task of presenting the conclusions of this wide debate.

Territorial development and cohesion experts, Mayors, business men and rural marketing technicians will be present in the first national forum dedicated to villages.

Bendada will be the stage for an event that also pretends to be the “kick off” for the national discussion. A forum where, well past diagnostics, intends to point out solutions, ways and winning strategies that bring back to the map the developement of thousands of our country´s villages.
